Credit crunch but not for the limo industry
The credit crunch has not put the brakes on the UK's party animals, according to a new report.
Despite the global financial crisis, 85% of the nation organises an average of three parties and attends 11 a year.The report from Yell.com - the online service from Yellow Pages - is out just as the serious party season approaches. Clodagh Ward, consumer development director at Yell, said: "Despite the current financial climate, the UK's desire to party continues unabated Party-goers are still spending on average more than £1,000 every year enjoying a social gathering. The report reveals that Older Age Party-goers (OAPs) - the 55-60 are group - are the biggest spending party guests
They splash out on average £20 more than other age groups on children's and seasonal parties. But 80% of party-goers agree that you do not need a champagne budget to throw a good party, says the "Party Pieces" report. Russell Jones from www.lancashirelimos.co.uk a limousine hire firm based near Blackpool reported an increase in party goes booking limos for general travel to and from the popular seaside town. The biggest cash splash is on romance-related celebrations - guests attending wedding, hen or stag, engagement or anniversary parties each spend more than £200 per party.
But 69% of partygoers say no excuse is needed to throw a bash - and young and older people alike are using the internet to help with organisation and ideas.
Analysis of Yell.com's nine million monthly user input revealed most searches were for fancy dress and limousine hire, as well as marquees and tents.
